8 to 14 years
This is a program intended for developing, young water polo players. The program teaches as much swimming and movement as it does water polo with class time divided between skill development, strength development and game play. Physical literacy is the goal.
All 12U and 14U athletes who swim once or twice per week are part of this level. They will play games on Saturdays or Sundays and learn individual skills on the weekdays.
Players in these age groups may train together at the same pool and at the same time but with different coaches. They will learn many of the same skills and will play co-ed games that practice the skills in a non-competitive setting with different themes or game objectives each week.
Athletes are encouraged to include Saturday as one of their weekly practices. Practices are also available on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Refer to our schedule for times.
15 to 19 Years
Athletes in this age group that want to add water polo to their weekly activies may choose to practice 1 or 2 times per week. These athletes will participate on gender specific teams in local games, including the Manitoba Water Polo Association (MWPA) winter league and local tournaments. The MWPA league activity will be determined by how many players participate and the game format agreed to by other clubs that we play in games.
Practices will be once or twice per week. Players may add a third day if they wish. Each practice will run alongside competitive players at Pan Am.
Athletes are encouraged to include Saturday as one of their weekly practices. Practices are also available on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Refer to our schedule for times.
Open Men and Women
19 yrs & Older
Manitoba Water Polo will continue to offer Adult Water Polo Games to keep our experienced players active through the winter. This involves a variety of ages in a structured competitive league.
We have set aside Friday evening practice for this age group to practice together with our high performance age group athletes. Open Men and Women may also choose to attend the 16U/19U practice on Saturday for some extra practice and scrimmage time. This is a social group with a physical and competitive component. Refer to our schedule for times.
